MEET DEBORAH HENSON-CONANT
FUSING MUSIC AND STORY ....
Deborah Henson-Conant is a Grammy-Nominated,
genre-bending, Blues-Flamenco-Celtic-Folk-Jazz
dynamo. She plays an instrument that was
invented specifically for her, so that she could
realize her unique vision of solo performance;
a vision that fuses music and story in every
way she can imagine.

The onstage experience of Deborah brings
one of the oldest traditions – the story-telling
harper – into the unique cross-genre musical
trajectory of the 21st-century.
She’s performed in theaters, festivals and concert
halls throughout the U.S. and Europe -- and
on PBS stations across the U.S. in her Public
Television special “Invention & Alchemy.”
She’s collaborated onstage with scientists,
journalists and actors in her cross-discipline
exploration series “Inviting Invention” - and
with orchestras, directors, theaters and other
artists in countless performances.
She’s committed to exploring new ways to
fuse music and story as a solo artist - and to
reinventing the electric harp as the foremost
crossover instrument of the 21st century.
Composer and musical storyteller ... singer and
instrumentalist ... inventor of a new instrument
and a new style of story-infused musical
performance. She turns music into theater and
theater into something lyrical. See her once and
you’ll never look at the harp the same way
again.
Deborah Henson-Conant has toured with the
Boston Pops, opened for Ray Charles at
Tanglewood, performed her solo concerts and onewoman
show from Budapest to Boston, created
her own music special “Invention & Alchemy,”
which aired on PBS stations nationwide She’s
been featured on NBC, CBS, CNN & NPR. She’s
been interviewed by Charlie Rose, Lou Rawls,
Joan Rivers, Studs Terkel, Scott Simon, Billy
Taylor and Susan Stamberg.
And she’s just getting started ...
